Could This Makeup Brush Change The Way You Apply Makeup? Magnitone BlendUp Vibra-Sonic Makeup Blending Brush Review

It's not often you see a new innovative beauty product that could change how you apply makeup. The beauty market is over saturated with ideas and product designs which are not unique, but this new release from Magnitone sparked interest!

Magnitone's BlendUp Vibra-Sonic Makeup Blending Brush is a unique beauty tool that vibrates to help blend makeup. Their Vibra-Sonic technology means that the brush works at 250 movements per second which is incredible. The technology was teamed with expert advice from top makeup artist, Paul Herrington, to create a brush that blends makeup seamlessly and effortlessly.

Magnitone BlendUp Vibra-Sonic Makeup Blending Brush Review

The brush is multi-use and can be used to blend foundation, contour, blush and bronzer, working on both powder and cream formulas. There are also interchangeable heads, the one that comes when purchased is the SmoothBlend option, there is also a FeatherBlend and BuffBlend. These would be so handy for makeup artists to swap throughout the makeup look to suit different formulas.

Magnitone BlendUp Vibra-Sonic Makeup Blending Brush Review

Every beauty tool, whether that a sponge or a brush, should be cleaned regularly to prevent the spread of bacteria which can cause spots. You’ll be glad to know that the fibres on the BlendUp brush are anti-bacterial and there is also a cleaning setting. You simply hold down the button on the handle for 3 seconds and you should hear a beep. Then the brush will vibrate in its cleaning mode, you just dip the brush head into water with a little bit of your favourite brush cleanser.

The BlendUp brush also comes with a handy USB charger, I plug mine either into my laptop or use my iPhone plug. A 2-hour charge will last you 1000 minutes of usage!

I’ve been testing the Magnitone BlendUp brush with a number foundations to see how they all compare. It does take some getting used to, you don’t really need to push the brush over the skin, just use a gentle touch and the vibrations do the work. It’s easiest when you dot the foundation over your skin and then blend.

Now, the brush is priced at £70., for some this might be out of reach. However, if you need some justification to buy it, there are reasons I think you might enjoy it. I previously used Beauty Blenders and these aren’t cheap for a sponge, I replace them every few months when they look worse for wear, the total of all the sponges I have bought probably comes to £70 anyway. The tool can be used with both powder and cream products, saving your need for separate brushes too.

The Magnitone BlendUp Vibra-Sonic Makeup Blending Brush is launching 1st October on their website. Sign up to their waitlist to receive exclusive discounts and see the launch before anyone else!

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream Review

Elemis is a skincare brand that has both effective yet luxurious products, perfect for pampering. I managed to get a set of Elemis products a little while ago from QVC and inside was their cult Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. It was love from first use, I used to save it for ‘best’ but I’m fed up of products expiring so I use this about two to three times a week.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream Review
This version is the day cream but I use it at night so it sinks in fully, uninterrupted by makeup. They do have a night cream option but I think it might be a little too heavy for my skin type. For those who want SPF in their skincare, they also have an SPF 30 one too.

It’s a lovely silky moisturiser which smells very spa-like. It feels heavenly on this skin and doesn’t leave you feeling greasy. It’s a very similar consistency to the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream, light and a tiny bit watery.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream Review

I can’t say much for the anti-wrinkle claims as I am in my mid-twenties. I more use this for a luxurious skincare cream to end my nightly pamper routine.

It is a pricey skincare product, 30ml is £52, 50ml will cost you £82 and a 100ml tub is priced at £145. However, I have seen this on offer on various beauty sites. I would also thoroughly recommend waiting until QVC has a set on offer. I think they may have a few Christmas sets out too which are very cost effective.

I have reviewed an Elemis Spa Facial if you were interested in finding out more about their skincare and spa treatments.

Cream Eyeshadow Pots to Suit Every Budget

I used to be a MAC eyeshadow girl through and through, but in the recent years, I have enjoyed experimenting with different formulas and brands. Cream eyeshadows have become my go-to when I am in a rush. They require minimal effort and blending, so ideal to slap on and head out the door.
I’ve rounded up my favourite cream eyeshadow pots which are varying prices so everyone has an option to add to their collection.

Cream Pot Eyeshadow Swatches, Charlotte Tilbury Jean and Bette, 3ina 312 and 313, Kiko 03 and MAC Groundwork

Starting with the most affordable of the bunch, Kiko Cream Crush Eyeshadow priced at £6.90. Kiko is such an underrated brand, their cream shadows are very pigmented and once set they don’t budge! I have the shade 03 which is a matte mauve colour. I would also thoroughly recommend their stick cream shadows which are dupes of the By Terry Ombre Blackstars.

Next up and still very affordable is the 3ina Cream Eyeshadows*, costing £8.95. These are perfect for adding sparkle to your lids. They are like a whipped mousse in texture but dry down to a powder. These have serious staying power. I have a more in-depth review of the brand here. I have the shades 313 which is a copper champagne colour and 312 which is a lavender champagne colour.

MAC Groundwork, £16, is a product I will always repurchase. It’s a mid-toned brown that adds definition and really makes my green eyes pop. It’s a one wash wonder, just slap it on and blend the edges with ease. These do dry out very quickly, as you can see mine as come away from the edges, so make sure you always close the lid tightly.

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadows are the crème de la creme of cream eyeshadow pots. These beautifully packaged shadows will cost you £22 each but they are well worth it. They provide buildable colour that looks effortless on the eyes. I have the shades Jean which is a shimmering champagne, which is a classic for anyone’s collection and the colour Bette which is a burnt brown.

Cream Pot Eyeshadow Swatches, Charlotte Tilbury Jean and Bette, 3ina 312 and 313, Kiko 03 and MAC Groundwork

Do you have any of these pots or do you have any recommendations for ones I should try?

Lush Dream Cream - Why It Really Works Wonders!

Most Lush products are a treat for the senses, explosions of colour and scent every time you have a bath. However, Dream Cream has to be their most boring product but it’s my go-to body moisturiser.

Lush Dream Cream Body Moisturiser Review - Post Shave Moisturiser for Legs

On the label under the ‘Good to Know’ section, there is a passage which says ‘We have files of customer letters telling us of their lifetime of skin troubles they have suffered from until they met Dream Cream. If it suits your skin, this product could make a massive difference to you too.’ I can fully agree with this, I suffer from terrible sore and itchy skin after shaving my legs. It makes me want to claw at my skin, I’ve tried hundreds of products including eczema cream (which was way too thick) to try and combat it. I stumbled across Dream Cream while browsing in my local Lush store.

After I have shaved my legs and get out of the shower, I rub Dream Cream straight onto my legs. It instantly soothes the skin and stops the itch. I have noticed that my legs haven’t become as red and rashy as they normally would since I started using it.

It’s a yellow coloured cream that is the perfect consistency, not too thick or too watery. It feels buttery as you apply it on the skin and it just melts in. Oat milk is used to calm and soothe the skin. It has a light malty fragrance but nothing that irritates the skin. It also contains skin softening cocoa butter, and relaxing lavender oil, no wonder it’s called Dream Cream!

When you Google the product name, hundreds of reviews come up stating it really helps eczema, so if you are a long-term sufferer, I think it is well worth trying!

Although it seems a little price for a body moisturiser, I highly recommend it. I have repurchased this time and time again and cannot be without it!

A small 100g pot of Lush Dream Cream is £6.95, the 240g is £13.95 and the larger 450g is £22.95.

An Environmentally Friendly Alternative to Face Wipes

I wonder how many people Caroline Hirons has converted from face wipes to double cleansing?! I must admit I am a face wipe lover, they are just so easy! However, I do realise that these are terrible for your skin and also bad for the environment.

Magnitone Wipe Out Cleansing Cloth Review

So I’m on a mission to reduce my use of face wipes, instead of replacing them with the Magnitone Wipe Out Cleansing Cloth. You only need warm water when using this cloth, yes, it will remove your makeup without the use of a cleanser! The ‘Grab and Hold’ Microfibres that the cloth is made of swell up when wet, meaning they grab hold of the makeup particles.

I can vouch for this, I wear relatively heavy foundation and eye makeup, and this cleansing cloth removes it in a few swipes. It’s softer on the skin also!

Magnitone Wipe Out Cleansing Cloth Review

The Magnitone Wipe Out Cleansing Cloths come in a two pack, they are double sided and can be used over a thousand times Magnitone claims! They are machine washable at 30. This saves hundreds of wipes going to landfill.

It’s a simple product that will change your cleansing routine. The Magnitone Wipe Out Cleansing Cloths are £15, well worth the money for their durability.

The Latest Jewellery Brand to Launch at Mococo Plus GIVEAWAY

Alex and Ani are an American jewellery brand who have just landed in the UK in selected Mococo stores and online. I visited the Liverpool shop, located in the Metquarter to find out more about the brand.

Alex and Ani Jewellery at Mococo

After chatting to the lovely Mococo team, I found out that the bracelets are the main focus of the Alex and Ani range, they all include a charm which represents something. For example, the anchor means grounding and trust, the hand of Fatima means protection and the laughing Buddha is for optimism and enlightenment.

What I love about the bracelets is that they are oval shaped and are all adjustable. I have small wrists so find it hard to wear bracelets but these can be changed to fit any size of wrist.

Each piece of jewellery comes beautifully packaged with a card that tells you the meaning of your charm. These make excellent gifts which can be layered or stacked to create a custom jewellery look.

Alex and Ani jewellery is available to buy online at Mococo or their Chester and Liverpool stores.

To celebrate the launch of Alex and Ani at Mococo, I'm giving away one of their beautiful bracelets. The silver bracelet has a tiny wing and has an adjustable string pull to fit your size of wrist.

The Ultimate 2017 Beauty Advent Calendar Guide - Calendars To Fit ALL Budgets

Yes, I’m already talking about Christmas, as soon as September rolls around beauty brands are starting to gear up for the festive period. Beauty advent calendars were a big trend last year but this year I think they will be bigger and better! I haven’t bought one in previous years, but I am going to purchase one this year.
I’ve split the beauty calendars into pricing to make shopping easier. I’ll be adding links to this post when the products are available to buy, so keep an eye out for updates.

UNDER £50

I’m a huge fan of bath bombs in the winter, this advent calendar is a perfect introduction to the brand if you haven’t tried it before. There is a mixture of mini soaps and bath blasters, scents include Jelly and Custard Bath Blaster, Cotton Candy Bath Blaster, Adventures in Eden Soap and Lime and Dany Soap.
Bomb Cosmetics Advent Calendar (Soaps and Bath Blasters)

If soaps aren’t your thing and you just enjoy bath bombs, Bomb Cosmetics have an advent calendar dedicated to them. It’s only a few pounds more expensive than its sister product.

Bomb Cosmetics The Bomb Advent Calendar

Fans of the YouTuber will be happy to know this advent calendar is already available. The cute shop front style packaging houses some of her cult products; lip glosses and nail polishes. Plus, new products like glitter liners and eye shimmer pots, ideal for Christmas parties.

Sephora Winter Wonderland Beauty Advent Calendar

Holland and Barrett Ethical Calendar - £35 - Launches 18th October in stores
This is a welcome addition to the beauty calendar line up for 2017. It's excellent to see a brand focus on ethical/green beauty. It has some of my favourites such as the Weleda Skin Food (it's like the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream - multi-use), Yes to Charcoal Face Wipes (great for oily skin) and Trilogy Rose Hip Oil (use this on scarring).

Holland and Barrett Ethical Calendar
I don’t think Sleek has created a beauty advent calendar previously. It’s an affordable option for the makeup junkies. Behind the doors, you will find brushes, contour kits (one of my faves), liquid liners and lipsticks.

Sleek Makeup A Gift A Day Advent Calendar

Jack Wills Beauty Advent Calendar - £35 – Launches at Boots on 18th September
This would be a great gift for teenage girls who are a fan of the Jack Wills brand. I wouldn’t say it’s the best value for money as it does have ‘filler’ products like hair bobbles and nail files but it is a nice introduction to a beauty advent calendar.

Jack Wills Beauty Advent Calendar

Marks and Spencer Beauty Advent Calendar - £35 – Launches 9th November.
Technically this is only available for £35 when you spend £35 on clothing or home at M&S, making the spend £70. However, this might be your opportunity to stock up on essentials like bras, socks or tights etc. to make up the £35 spend. Lots of bloggers loved this beauty advent calendar last year because of the great variety of brands included. This year, there are samples from Rodial, Alpha H, Nuxe, Eyeko and Emma Hardie to name a few.

Competing with the likes of Liberty, Harrods has added its best sellers to its beauty advent calendar. You will find inside a NARS Laguna Bronzer, Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara, Huda Beauty Lip Strobe in Enchanting, and an Acqua di Parma red candle.

This has a mixture of bath products including body washes, body lotions, candles, body polishes and Eau de toilettes. I’m not sure the £256 price tag is justifiable for me on this one.

Molton Brown Scented Luxuries Advent Calendar

Diptyque Advent Calendar - £300 – Launching in Selfridges in November
Oh, how I wish I had a spare £300 for this luxurious advent calendar. It includes 15 of their signature candles in the scents of Mimosa, Baies, Benjoin and Pomander-Vanille. There is also 7 eau de toilettes inside, some of which are the L’Ombre dans l’Eau, Philosykos, Don Son. To finish, there are 2 skin and body samples, plus a large 70g frosted forest candle.

I saved the best to last, it would be a dream to own this beauty advent calendar. I love that JM have added a touch of colour to their monochrome cream and black branding. Expect a mixture of candles, perfumes and body treats.

Carat London 12 Days of Jewellery Advent Calendar - £350 - OUT NOW
This is the most expensive calendar I have seen to date. The 12 windows house beautiful piece of jewellery. I think this might have a limited run as Selfridges website says there are only 5 available.
