Foundation Collection

If you had asked about my foundation collection about 6 months ago, I would of laughed. I only owned MAC's Studio Fix and wore it day in, day out, scared to try anything else in case my skin broke out.
My skin has become more settled lately, with it turning from stupidly oily to oily/combination, it meant I could try some different formulas out.

Not a big collection I know, still on the look out for new things to try. In order of coverage, heavy to light, we have...

Estee Lauder Double Wear in 1C1 Shell
With a heavy coverage this formula covers everything, I mean everything!

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour foundation in 100 Ivory
This a small step down from Double Wear in coverage, but it still has a great matte finish that lasts.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC15
This is a holy grail product in the beauty blogging world, everyone with oily skin I recommend this to you. It's a medium coverage foundation that you can build to a heavier finish. It's easy to blend, stays on and only needs a touch up at the end of the day with my skin type.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in 51
With my skin drying out slightly I can now wear lighter coverage foundations like this one. It gives a flawless finish with a slight dewy look that makes your skin look 'health', it does what it says on the tin!

What foundations would you recommend I try?
I think I'm going to purchase Jemma Kidd's Light As Air next.

Lusting After...

Here are few things I'm lusting after this week...

1. Shout Thru Sole Demi Platforms - £85
These platforms are AMAZING! They are simplistic but eye catching at the same time meaning they will go with just about anything!

2. Illamasqua Powder Blush in Naked Rose - £16.50
The new Naked Strangers collection by Illamasqua is right up my street and I've been lusting after this blush. The shade makes it an ideal neutral shade that will go with any make-up look and sculpt the cheeks at the same time.

3. Stripe Floral Print Playsuit - £46
This playsuit is adorable, I need to get my hands on it asap!

4. Embroidered Flower Shirt - £40
I love the floral appliqué on this shirt, it makes it feel more expensive than it actually is. It's pretty and prim!

5. Moto Khaki Studded Hotpants - £35
Shorts are a staple of any summer wardrobe and I need these in mine. The khaki shade gives it an army chic feel.

What have you been lusting after?

After a try are they worth a second buy?

I've noticed a lot of bloggers and youtubers making posts on their monthly empties. I wanted to jump on the bandwagon and show you the products I used up and if they are worth a second buy.

Left to right: Witch Anti-Blemish Skin Clearing Primer, L'Oreal Studio Secrets Anti-shine Primer, L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara, Jimmy Choo Perfume, Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel, Rimmel Sunshimmer Bronzing Powder in Light Shimmer and ELF Studio Blusher in Tickled Pink

Witch Anti-Blemish Skin Clearing Primer
I picked this up a while ago when I was searching for a day time primer that wasn't too heavy. This stuff is light weight, sinks in quickly and keeps most shine at bay. I wouldn't say it's 'skin clearing' but it hasn't made my skin any worse.
Verdict: Repurchase

L'Oreal Studio Secrets Anti-shine Primer
This is my night time primer, for nights out I wanted something a little more stronger on the anti-shine aspect. This stuff, along with my Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation, make a perfect combination for matte skin all night long.
Verdict: Repurchase

L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara
I bought this after seeing Vivianna from Vivianna Does Makeup feature it in many of her favourites videos. This is the holy grail of lengthening mascaras. It's easy to use and you can build up layers for more volume. I did notice a little bit of upper lid transfer through out the day so I will buy the waterproof one next.
Verdict: Repurchase

Jimmy Choo Perfume
This reminded me of the Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb perfume when I bought it, it was cheaper and I decided I'd go out on a limb and try this one instead of repurchasing Flowerbomb. I liked the scent at first but towards the end I really hated the scent, not sure what changed my mind though!
Verdict: No repurchase

Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel
I previously used powders to fill my eyebrows in but I switched to this. It's long lasting and easy to use, not too expensive either.
Verdict: Repurchase

Rimmel Sunshimmer Bronzing Powder in Light Shimmer
This bronzing powder has been lurking in my collection for ages so I just wanted to use it up asap so I could move onto the Bourjois chocolate one. It's got quite a bit of shimmer which I didn't really like so I'm going to stick with Bourjois.
Verdict: No repurchase

ELF Studio Blusher in Tickled Pink
I really liked this ELF blusher, I thought the colour was great for everyday. I have a huge collection of blushers so I won't be repurchasing as I need to start using the others up.
Verdict: No repurchase

What empties do you have this month and will you be giving them a second buy?

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Review

This won't be the first review of the infamous Bourjois Healthy Mix, the beauty community loves this stuff! It's been claimed to be a dupe of the Chanel Vitalumiere, they are made by the same company so perhaps they are similar in formulation.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in 51 Review

I picked up shade 51, as you can see it's an identical shade to my past love, Studio Fix Fluid in NC15. I say my past love because Bourjois has knocked MAC off the top of my foundation list.
(Edit: My skin has now become more oilier since this review was written, I now cannot use this, I look like an oil slick.)

Texture and Application
This foundation is light in texture so it can be applied with either a brush or fingers. It has a moisturising feel to it, which dry skinned bloggers would love. I find it goes on quite thinly, for the coverage I like, I do have to build layers.
It smells very fruity, this could be a love or hate factor in this foundation. I personally don't mind it, although this perfumed formulation could cause break outs for those with sensitive skin.
It's a semi-matte finish, which I would describe as a glowy velvet finish.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in 51 Review Studio Fix NW15 Comparison

Here you can see the colour match between the shade 51 from Bourjois to NW15 from MAC.

Final Thoughts
It really is an excellent foundation, ideally for those with dry to normal skin tones. For oily skins, I recommend you powder after application and throughout the day to avoid shine. I give this 3.5/5.

What do you think of Healthy Mix?

Burlesque Love

After watching the film Burlesque I've been researching into the make-up looks of the burlesque/vintage pin-up style. I adore Dita von Teese so I thought I'd recommend a few items to recreate the look.

1. I recently purchased the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, I've had so many compliments saying my skin looked flawless, so I think it's perfect to recreate the Dita look.

2. To add an extra bit of coverage and set the foundation I use MAC's Studio Fix Powder with a fluffy powder  brush, patting the colour into the skin.

3. I've always been a fan of Eylure lashes in 101, sadly they've changed the packaging, but I've stocked up on the old versions. Pin-up girls love long fluttery lashes.

4. L'Oreal Super Liner in Carbon Gloss is a beauty blogging favourite, I've never found an eyeliner so pigmented and long lasting as this one. Perfect for the winged eyeliner look Dita always sports.

5. I've recently mentioned that the L'Oreal Telescopic mascara was my new favourite, I use this to bind the false lashes to my own so they look neater.

6. The infamous Cherries in the Snow by Revlon, it's my favourite lipstick if you can't tell by my blog name! It's an ideal shade for the luscious red lips that pin-ups are famous for.

Do you like the pin-up look?
